Overland & long-distance conveying

High tension, low elongation, energy efficiency, transitions, take-up and splice strategy must be considered together.

Typical focus: Steel cord and selected low-elongation textile constructions

Mine, crushing & run-of-mine

Large lumps, impact energy, trapped material and sharp edges create combined cover and carcass damage risks.

Typical focus: Cut, gouge, impact and rip protection

Stockyard, reclaimer & port

High throughput and limited shutdown windows place extra emphasis on reliability, splice quality and planned replacement logistics.

Process plant & transfer conveyors

Shorter centres can still be technically demanding because of small pulleys, frequent flexing, aggressive transfers and carryback.

From duty to specification

Four questions create a better starting point.

Understand the duty

Material, capacity, lump size, drop height, temperature, moisture and contamination.

Review the conveyor

Length, lift, speed, pulleys, transitions, take-up, loading and discharge geometry.

Identify the failure risk

Tension, elongation, abrasion, cut, impact, rip, fire, heat, oil or chemicals.

4

Build the specification

Carcass, cover, thickness, edges, breakers, splice materials, testing and packaging.

Product connection

Construction carries it. Compound protects it.

Once the application is understood, the belt is specified through two linked but independent choices: the load-carrying carcass and the environment-facing cover compound.
