Cover compounds

Protect the carcass from the real damage mechanism.

Cover rubber is common across multiple belt constructions. Select it separately for abrasion, cut and gouge, impact, fire safety, heat, cold, oil, chemicals or rolling resistance.

Compound selection

AS classes where they apply. Special properties where they do not.

AS-N, AS-M and AS-A are shown with the minimum physical-property requirements of AS 1332. FRAS is split between K Grade for general-purpose or aboveground duties and AS Grade S under AS 4606 for underground coal. Oil and chemical resistance are treated separately.

GradePrimary functionTensileElongationAbrasion loss
AS-NGeneral purpose≥ 17 MPa≥ 400%≤ 200 mm³
AS-MDemanding general purpose≥ 24 MPa≥ 450%≤ 125 mm³
AS-AAbrasion resistant≥ 17 MPa≥ 400%≤ 70 mm³

A lower abrasion-loss figure indicates better resistance in the laboratory test. It does not by itself predict cut, gouge, impact, tear or service life.
